Federcaccia: Umbria, great success for the remediation joke against poisoned morsels in the territory of Norcia.
Reclamation campaign against poisoned meatballs in Norcia: success for the initiative promoted by the Provincial Police of Valnerina, which Federcaccia and the other hunting associations in the area immediately joined. Yesterday morning, Sunday 17 March, at 8.30 in front of the offices of the Provincial of Norcia, about 30 hunters met, who joined the large group of agents to take part in the hunt. There were also two units on horseback and a quad unit, in addition to the veterinary officer of the Asl 2, Dr. Fernanda Sammarone.
The volunteers, lined up in a rake along an ideal line of about 300 meters in length, headed from the industrial area to the famous Marcite di Norcia, a humid area of absolute value in the heart of the Sibillini National Park. After that the group moved a few hundred meters and traveled backwards, exploring new stretches of countryside.
During the operations, the carcasses of a fox and two corvids were found, probably two gray crows, a particularly prolific species within the protected area. The animals were collected by doctor Sammarone, who will submit them to analyzes in days through the Zooprophylactic Institute of Perugia. The substances eventually found in the bodies could offer important elements for the continuation of the investigations. “I am satisfied with the outcome of the joke - declares the Lieutenant of the Provincial Police Fabrizio Padovini, coordinator of the initiative - and also for the participation found by the hunting associations. Now we have to wait for the results of the analyzes, after which we will evaluate how to proceed ".
Also present was the municipal administration of Norcia, with Deputy Mayor Franco Mirri who expressed “satisfaction with the sensitivity and attachment to the environment shown by the nursini hunters. An operation such as today, moreover within a protected area such as the Sibillini park, only demonstrates how much hunters care about the territory and the health of both domestic and wild fauna ”.
