The English World Cup
In England, in the beautiful setting of Weston Park, a wonderful estate in the English countryside located in Weston-under-Lizard, Staffordshire, in a park of over 4 km² near the border with Shropshire, the World Championship of Hunter Field Target was held 2022 organized by the World Hunter Field Target Association. Representing Italy, four shooters of the Asd Fidasc Team Italy Hunter Field Target, Alessandro Pileri Alessandro Calvia, Matteo Careddu and Riccardo Presciutti, crossed the Channel to participate in the important event, which took place over two days, on 17 and 18 September last in two different competition fields, in the country that gave birth to the hunter field target.
The first day
The English weather granted the more than 250 participants two days of sunshine, with medium intensity wind on the first day and high intensity on the second, putting all the shooters to the test and leveling the rankings considerably. Both competition fields were very difficult, with small shapes and small Hit zones, almost all positioned from 30 to 40 meters, in the depths of the wonderful and dense English oak forest. The first day immediately saw the young star of the Sardinian hft Matteo Careddu shine, who despite the difficulties encountered in estimating the large drift to the impact of the pellets, due to the wind, with an excellent score of 52/60 immediately placed at the top of the ranking of the Junior category. Of the other three shooters, team leader Allessandro Pileri, due to technical problems with the equipment due to the transport of the long journey, does not excel in the first day, concluding the very difficult path faced with a 34/60, while Alessandro Calvia and Riccardo Presciutti earn a 36/60 and a 44/60 respectively.
Second day
The second day of competition sees bad luck hit the Italian team: Pileri is forced to retire due to health problems. The Italian team does not lose heart without its own captain, and throws itself headlong into the very difficult routes battered by the strong wind. Alessandro Calvia does better than the previous day, securing a good 44/60, while Riccardo Presciutti gets a decent 41/60, but, to leave everyone breathless, the young shooter Matteo Careddu thinks about it, who does not disappoint expectations.
Last silhouette
At the last silhouette, under the applause of a large group of shooters who praised him for a very difficult shooting down, in the standing position, without support, at 30 meters of a silhouette reduced to 2 cm, Matteo Careddu deservedly earns a good 48/60 who places him, at the end of the World Championship, in the second highest step of the podium just two points from the first place, thus winning the title of vice-champion of the World Whfta Junior category. Thanks to this important success and the work of the whole team, the Asd Team Italy Hft comes out with its head held high from the World WHFTA 2022, thanking the friends of the WHFTA for the wonderful organization and the wonderful welcome given to the Italian team (Source: TRUST).
