The behavior of the council
On 22 December the Emilia Romagna Region definitively gave up defending what little remained of the hunting calendar 2023/2024. They made us believe that they would keep the bar straight in defending their initial choices on the hunting calendar. They urged the TAR, at the insistence of the hunting world, to hold the hearing in time to restore the initial calendar. A TAR that does not even respect the ruling of the Council of State in which it was requested that the hearing be set to discuss the merits of the appeal presented by the end of December. With absolutely unacceptable behavior, nothing has been done in more than two months to try to formulate an act with a minimum of political courage to save what can be saved. There has been no commitment to give a mandate to the technical apparatus to develop a provision which, by valorising the data collected with the monitoring of the woodcock, would at least safeguard this sampling in the month of January, just as the scientific data on other species provided by the hunting associations were not used.
The reaction of the hunters
It is disheartening to witness the shameful attitude of regional politics which is not even able to defend what it decided at the time and at the same time believes it is using hunters as scavengers in plans to control invasive species or species harmful to agriculture and the territory. The hunters will not be satisfied with the "promise" of a shameful handout with the reduction of the regional tax, what they are asking for is the certainty of the rules for the entire hunting season. Just as at the same time the Region gives cars and a lot of money to associations that do nothing for the protection of the environment and wildlife other than imposing absurd bans and limitations which over time prove to be a real disaster, as recently happened in the Romagna area.
Used and exploited
A calendar that is continuously modified during construction is no longer acceptable, this is a system that leads to systematic abandonment by hunters, but perhaps the environmental/political blackmail towards the regional council wants precisely this. Hunters are tired of being used and exploited, they only ask to exercise their passion according to the rules of national law. Therefore, the decline in volunteering in the control of opportunistic species and in management actions on the territory is not surprising and neither is the signal that the hunting world and the related industries that revolve around hunting will be able to give in the next appropriate electoral deadlines (The Provincial President Libera Caccia Ravenna Bruno Gurioli – The Provincial President F.I.d.C. Ravenna Dante Gianstefani – The Provincial President Enal Caccia Ravenna Avv. Carlo Benini).
