Meloni government
Among the acts of the Meloni government, as we have all read in the major national newspapers, there is the modification of article 19 of the national law which regulates hunting, the 157 of the 1992. “The new regulatory change will allow the Provincial Police to use hunters as support personnel in wildlife control interventions. As has already been foreseen for 30 years, these interventions can also be carried out in areas where hunting is prohibited (because they are close to inhabited centers or because they are destined for a hunting ban). The rule does not concern hunting, but the management of fauna. Moreover, the amendment does nothing more than provide by law what the Constitutional Court established last year regarding regional laws.
Far West allegations
Almost all of the newspapers sounded the trumpets of our animalism, speaking of "wild hunting", of "far west", presenting the law as if it allowed anyone sighting a wild boar in the city to fire in the crowd. In a civilized country the press would have correctly illustrated the law to the citizens and would have mocked the various more or less animal rights associations. Don't talk about gifts to hunters: they have no interest in shooting between houses. Rather, the reactions of environmentalists and a large part of the information show that in Italy environmentalism is for the living room, and ignores the problems of balancing ecosystems; and in general there is the utmost disregard for public safety, road and health problems related to wildlife.
Hunting periods
What most annoys the hunting world, at least Federcaccia Brescia, is that this modification is a "gift" for the phantom lobby of Italian hunters. Italian hunters, on the other hand, would like to go hunting in the periods established by national law, from 1 September for some species until 31 January and not in the suburbs of Rome. Hunters would like to see the list of species that can be hunted in the aforementioned national law respected and not have to spend the night waiting for wild boars in the gardens of mountain villages. Hunters want to practice hunting in compliance with the laws passed by the Italian Parliament, not according to those written by ideological public officials. If then the institutions, the police forces, the park authorities, the municipal administrators ask the hunting world to support them to contain the out-of-control wildlife, they will certainly give their availability, but it's not hunting, it's control! Otherwise, as far as we are concerned, the problem is not ours (source: FIDC Brescia).
