The regional elections in Lombardy
The regional elections were a triumph for the Brescia hunting world. It is clear to everyone, to the political secretariats as well as to the candidates and let's think of the reconfirmed president Attilio Fontana that, in the face of a disarming abstention from the citizens' vote, the Brescian hunters voted en masse. Our analysis cannot be accused of fantasy because the elect attest unequivocally to this thesis. First elected in the League with 10.485 preferences Floriano Massardi who in the past legislature dealt with the hunting matter by presenting dozens of amendments which turned into more than 50 changes to the regional law. It is obvious that the extraordinary consensus is also the result of a capillary work on the territory in many sectors but the vote of the hunters certainly constitutes an important part of the votes collected. Carlo Bravo president of the ACL hunting association was the first elected in the ranks of the Brothers of Italy with 7056 votes. In this case the contribution of the hunting world to a person who has been committed to defending traditions and hunting for 20 years is even more evident. Barbara Mazzali, director and outgoing group leader of Fratelli d'Italia, finished a few hundred votes behind Carlo Bravo with 6.738 votes. In the past 5 years, she too has always been a point of reference for the hunting world in Brescia and Lombardy. These three names, together with those of Emilio del Bono, also elected in the ranks of the Democratic Party, and that of Alessandro Sala were suggested in our Cacciapensieri column three weeks ago.
The recommendations of the Federcaccia
And again in the Cacciapensieri we had recommended to the hunters, the following week, the importance of this administrative session and consequently the usefulness of going to the polls. The result was amazing, we have to admit it, against all expectations since candidates close to our world are not always in the ropes of the party secretariats, those who were present in the last legislature have not always bowed to the indications, the conveniences of the secretariats, also fueling some institutional conflict. However, the scrutiny showed that it is the right path, that the efforts made have not been useless and that today, strengthened by the consensus obtained, they can and will have to ask for even more. In the electoral campaign many things are said and many promises are made, it is true, and obviously they will have to be kept.
The representatives of the hunters
However, there are issues of the utmost urgency and gravity on the table. Let's try to remember a few: the Hunting Wildlife Plan, the Hunting Calendar, the adoption of the European Directive on lead, the issue of mountain passes, the ringlets of decoy birds, the Guidelines for Alpine Galliformes and those arriving for the Rooster Forcello. We have only mentioned the most important issues and the headache is already coming! In Federcaccia we are convinced that in order to deal with these very important topics, we must first of all get involved in the Hunting Office of the Lombardy Region, strengthening its staff with capable, competent and intellectually honest people and reorganizing the skills of the officials present, also finding a new Director of the Office. Secondly, the skills already present in the hunting world must be enhanced and new ones must be created: the serious and reasoned collaboration of the hunters' representatives must have greater weight because it enriches the action of the Lombardy region. To solve the problems on the table today, a true knowledge of the legislative matter is needed and complex intellectual skills are needed to find solutions.
New Councilor for Agriculture
We are convinced that the new Councilor for Agriculture with responsibility for hunting will not be able to fail to take into account the reality resulting from the polls. The elected councilors are strengthened by an important and winning consensus and we are therefore sure that they will not fail to carry on our requests. The Fontana Presidency itself cannot fail to imagine a further effort on hunting. It would betray the trust of the electorate citizens who, for example in Brescia, in our opinion thanks to the consent of Massardi, have brought the percentage of the League well above the regional average. In short, this legislature is off to a very good start for us, also considering the strong downsizing of the anti-hunting front in the Region, represented in recent years by the advisers of the 5 Star Movement, as demonstrated by the dozens of questions raised against the proposals of councilor Rolfi and the advisers Massardi and Mazzali. However, the problems to be faced are many and complex, we need unity of purpose and action, we need to make synthesis and find solutions that stand up, because let's remember it, the appeals to the TAR of the various animal rights associations will continue to exist, perhaps even greater than before.
