Arci Caccia's position
We are curious which bad film the regional president of theWeather in Arcicaccia, which as we have repeatedly had to point out despite ourselves it is not new – he does, unlike us – to tell an alternative reality to the facts. And to do so, he continues to support the work - legitimate, mind you, but unacceptable to us - of the Hunting Office of the Marche Region which, in his opinion, we had the "daring" to delegitimize by contesting his CV. Yes, Federcaccia challenged the calendar and it did so because the Marche Region with that calendar took away twenty days of hunting from enthusiasts. And since the protection of the equally legitimate and well-founded interests of hunters is the duty of the Hunting Associations - or at least of a part of them, apparently - that calendar could and should have been challenged.
The appeal of the Federcaccia
It is not an affront to the Region and it is nothing unheard of. Federcaccia's appeal is not, as Arcicaccia tries to pass off, the same or done with animal welfare associations. Theirs aimed to send us hunting less, Federcaccia did it to hunt more. Clearly Arcicaccia misses the importance of giving different points of view to the judges, as well as not always playing defense. Then, of course, someone may find it preferable to trade tranquility for hunting days or for some species. We recall that ARCI for this calendar did not want fighter hunting or pre-opening for aquatics, for example. After all, Arcicaccia has not failed in the past to lie down on the restrictive positions of environmentalists or more recently of ISPRA to stay calm under an umbrella, so we are not surprised by the way of thinking of the president from the Marches.
Background to keep in mind
We therefore advise the president of Arcicaccia Marche to take advantage of the rest under the umbrella to better reflect on the contents of the TAR ruling. He could thus realize that far from being a defeat, he has instead set important precedents which, as usual, even the members of his Association - and others - will enjoy without their managers having lifted a finger. At the same time, President Arcicaccia could understand (also by inquiring) that various reasons which instead led to the rejection of the environmental appeal were prepared in collaboration between the Regional Offices and the Studies and Research Office of Federcaccia. We proudly claim that appeal to the TAR which, uniquely, Federcaccia has made and if the Region has felt discredited in any way we hope it will treasure it.
The ISPRA opinion
We also urge you to have more courage for the future, especially in drafting the next hunting calendar, without uncritically accepting the opinion ISPRA, instead following those lines and documents that the Federcaccia Studies and Research Office has already provided and which have contributed – think President Arcicaccia how useless our work is – to other Regions to maintain times and species. Tuscany, Umbria and Sardinia, do they perhaps say something to him? We are not interested in trying to get by so as not to displease anyone, but in defending hunting and the hunters of the Marche region and we will continue to do so without any reverential fear towards anyone. Neither of the Institutions, towards which we have respect but certainly not awe, nor of characters who still dream of past - dubious - glories and which history has shown to be out of time.
