In the aftermath of the committee meeting NADEG - the Group of Experts on Birds and Habitats Directives - at the Environment Commission of the European Union held last July 2, Dr. Michael Sorrenti, coordinator of the Federcaccia Studies and Research Office, takes stock of the situation of the hunting of the turtle dove, an issue that has sparked the debate in Italy and in Europe in recent weeks. From an absolute “Caccia si / Caccia no” approach, it seems we have moved on to a quantitative approach to withdrawal.
A position which, although reductive, opens up new scenarios, including future ones, for the maintenance of the hunt for this one as well as others recognized species as in difficulty (Source: Federcaccia).
