Revise the rule that calls hunters to answer for gods damage to agriculture caused by boars. The “wild boar question” is central to the municipal section of Federcaccia Perugia, which one year after the new Board took office takes stock of the activity carried out. In the last twelve months there have been many initiatives of the municipal section, both recreational and technical. Starting from the various social events, such as the great celebration of Ponte San Giovanni or the toast of Sant'Uberto, up to touching specific aspects of ars venandi, such as the course for the qualification for the monitoring of woodcocks - with Professor Pennacchini - or the contribution to research on wood pigeon migration.
The new municipal section has immediately committed itself to the defense and protection of all its members in any institution, institutional and judicial, with very important actions that have seen us victorious. From the point of view of the management of the sedentary, the section has promoted and implemented Temporary Respect Areas for the preservation and increase of noble game. This action is accompanied by a massive repopulation of hares and pheasants - the latter of the new type - which is giving excellent results. The restocking, then, will be completed with the summer releases. Regarding training, the prepared training program is very rich: we plan to implement it as soon as possible the rules on social distancing they will allow it.
And again: the massive action to combat opportunistic species produced, in January alone, the killing of over 150 wild boars in the repopulation and capture areas of the Perugino, with a proportional benefit for all other wild species, huntable and not. From the canine point of view, then, the section had drawn up a competition plan on wild boar, hare and feathered game, unfortunately blocked by the Coronavirus. For Federcaccia Perugia the "Wild boar question" deserves a separate chapter: "Our municipal section, given the regional regulation on damage to crops, raises the problem of the economic protection of its members wild boarists, also in consideration of the difficult economic situation following the pandemic.
We believe it unthinkable that hunters - many of whom are retired while, among the young, there is no shortage of unemployed - should be called into question for compensation for damage caused by wildlife, as required by the current regional regulation. The wild boar driver, in addition to supporting the normal expenses for the license and the operation of his team, renders a service to the community in terms of prevention of damage to crops, reduction of road accidents, defense of local ecosystems and biodiversity, given that the wild boar adapts to any territory overwhelming other species to the point of causing their progressive disappearance ".
