Wooded area
70 hectares of land planted with pine and eucalyptus were destroyed by a huge fire on Mount “Saraceno”, in Ravanusa. A helicopter and a Canadair had to intervene to put out the flames which started from brushwood and spread to the state-owned wooded area.
Malicious nature
The firefighters of the Canicattì detachment and the Agrigento Forestry personnel operated by land. The carabinieri from the Ravanusa station also intervened and notified the Agrigento Prosecutor's Office and are carrying out the investigations. The malicious nature would be the preferred hypothesis.
Arci Caccia's anger
The local press interviewed Mario Tornambè Provincial President of Arci Caccia: “The arsonist should spit in his face, he destroyed the only green lung of Ravanusa. We have been asking for environmental guards for years, there was even money allocated but former mayor D'Angelo moved the funds to the budget."
