As has been known for some time, the European Commission has decided to propose an amendment to the Weapons Directive in response to the terrorist attacks that rocked the city of Paris. The changes were judged to be controversial to say the least and a study was never presented to understand what is the impact of different categories of weapons, in particular those for sporting and hunting use. On November 16th there will be a conference in Brussels, organized by Firearms United, who will delve into this topic and take stock of the situation.
The conference will make it possible to carefully evaluate the data held by the confederation that unites sport shooters, hunters and collectors. It will be decided whether the practically zero impact on illicit arms trafficking can justify another impact, that on 100 million Europeans and on the civil market.
Companies that depend on this sector and which would be heavily penalized should not be forgotten. The event will take place from 14pm to 30pm, more precisely in the room PHS 1A002 of the Paul-Henri Spaak building. Three members of the European Parliament will participate, namely Bernd Kölmel, Jussi Halla-Aho and Dita Charanzova. Admission will be free and will be made available a simultaneous translation service in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish and Czech.
