There are about two months to go until the second edition of the Italian Practical Hunting Championship Italcaccia. The event, organized by the association founded in 1969 as the name suggests, will take place in Fiuggi (province of Frosinone) in the weekend of 28 and 29 May. The championship provides for the killing of the wild and will take place in a very precise way: Saturday 28 May will be the turn of the regions of Central Italy, while on Sunday 29 May they will enter the scene those of the North and South. Participation is open to all those hunters who have taken part in the provincial and regional qualifications, therefore it will be the responsibility of the managers of each region to communicate to the national coordination of Italcaccia who has qualified through a special form. To better understand the Championship rules, refer to that of the first edition (2015).
The aim of the competition is to encourage sports competition and the hunting education of the members. There are three foreseen phases, namely the provincial phase (preliminary round to select hunters for the regional final), the regional phase and the national final. The first two competitors in the standings of each regional can participate in the latter, even if it is possible add an extra number according to the subscribers.
The documents required for registration are the hunting license, the personal rifle port book, both valid, as well as the Italcaccia membership card. Furthermore, participants must be in possession of a pointing or hunting dog that is regularly registered in the canine registry. The dog cannot be replaced during the championship, unless there is a valid reason with a veterinary certificate. There are three categories: it is the "Absolute" category, the one intended for Juniors (from 25 years upwards) and the one for Veterans (over 65 years old).
As for the game, however, only the permanent one is preferred, while in the provincial phases the sedentary one is preferable and, in the absence, one opts for quails. The scores are soon said. In the event of killing the game, a maximum of 4 points are awarded, while there are two for the felling of the first barrel and for the incarnated game. On the contrary, one point is awarded for the second barrel shot. It then rises to ten points in the hypothesis of educated, correct and sporting hunters. Fairness and hunting education are none other than compliance with national and regional laws, respect for the environment, assessment of distances and behavior with other competitors, judges, organizers and game.
