A very interesting conference
Last Saturday in Florence, in the magnificent setting offered by Villa Viviani, the conference dedicated to the theme "Management of the wild boar - Complex but possible activity" was held, organized by Federcaccia Toscana – UCT, Federcaccia Emilia Romagna and National FIdC. A day of study dedicated to a theme and to a game that is now more and more everyday protagonist of the country's hunting, economic, managerial and, unfortunately, health reality and which as a matter of national scope must be addressed by looking for the most efficient synergy between the interventions and the actors involved. In front of a large and attentive audience, the speeches of the present speakers alternated: from Federcaccia managers to representatives of the agricultural world, from ATC delegates to representatives of the regional institutions of Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna.

Thus followed the National President of Federcaccia Massimo Buconi; Marco Salvadori, President of Federcaccia Toscana-UCT; Tiziano Pizzasegola, Coordinator Atc Emilia-Romagna; Marco Apollonio, University of Sassari; Marco Ferretti, Tuscany Region; Andrea Campanile, President of Federcaccia Liguria; Alberto Maria Bruni, Coordinator of the Federcaccia legal office and Paolo Pini, President of Federcaccia Emilia-Romagna. The reports were followed by a round table, moderated by the journalist expert in hunting issues Matteo Brogi, which saw Riccardo Burresi, from the Tuscany Region, discussing; Alessio Mammi, Emilia-Romagna Region Councilor for agriculture and agri-food, hunting and fishing; Fabrizio Filippi, President of Coldiretti Tuscany; Luca Brondelli, Executive Board of Confagricoltura; Gabriele Carenini, CIA President of Piedmont – CIA National Head of Wildlife; Luca Santini, President of Federparchi; Massimo Buconi, National President of Federcaccia. The recognition of the status of an "important" species to the wild boar not only from a hunting point of view, but also from a management point of view, controlled in its growth in recent years thanks to the fundamental contribution of hunted hunts and organized wild boar hunting teams, agrees. which today, for example, carry out in Tuscany about 85% of the annual collection of the total animals killed between hunting and control activities.
The final roundtable
"Publishing wild boar data at a national level to be able to know the real consistency of the species by overcoming clichés, demagoguery and misinformation". This is the message of the scientific world, also in function of the risk of spreading ASF (African swine fever). Tackling the problem rationally and with the decisive contribution of hunters without imposing unjustified restrictions on hunting is the line that must guide interventions at national and regional level to oppose the disease which can potentially cause enormous damage to the wildlife heritage and to the sector agri-food sector which belongs to the pork meat supply chain. During the interventions, the importance of a real coordination between the national extraordinary plan and that relating to the PSA was repeatedly underlined in harmony with the legislative instruments of the Regions, to allow rapid and incisive actions in case of need. At the end of the works, an equally interesting round table was held between institutional representatives and the agricultural world with the extraordinary participation of Federparchi, which highlighted the different approaches, but also the common points on this delicate topic. In the coming days, a document will be drawn up containing the main topics covered and the related deductions which will then be presented to representatives of the institutional world and the Italian management sector, as well as to the structures of our Association (source: FIDC).
