Present at the meeting was the Regional Councilor, vice-president of the VIII Commission for agriculture, mountains, forests and parks Floriano Massardi, with him the provincial secretary of the Lega Alberto Bertagna.
“This project, of which I am the proponent, aims to allow cooking in restaurants and festivals, to enhance and preserve the spread of the Brescia spit with birds as a gastronomic heritage as well as a centuries-old tradition of our territory. Since 2014, however, the current rules prohibit the trade of huntable birds for commercial purposes, thus excluding the possibility of restaurants, markets, fairs and festivals to offer this typical dish ".
"The regional law that I propose therefore cannot fail to take into account the fact that it is necessary that the raw material, that is the game, is voluntarily donated always and only free of charge by the primary producer, that is, by the hunter, up to the final consumer in harmony with Community and national legislation on the protection and prohibition of the sale for commercial purposes of certain species of birdlife ”explains Massardi.
"The next act will be Thursday 7 April with the presentation of the text in the IV Commission for productive activities of the Lombardy Region, a step that will start the process of the bill which will then be discussed in the council chamber" concludes Massardi.
“Thanks to the Lombardy Region which, once again, intervenes concretely to defend the traditions of the territory, whether they are cultural or gastronomic. The Brescia spit, like the other typical dishes of the Lombard provinces, is an added value that cannot be canceled ”, says Alberto Bertagna provincial secretary of the Brescia League.
