In Foligno, skeet shooting becomes an official school discipline for the first time

The Liceo Scientifico Sportivo Guglielmo Marconi has included sport among those to be taught to students in the three hours a day.

The date of the February 3, 2016 will forever be remembered as a historic moment of the skeet shooting. This sport, in fact, has been included in the list of official sports disciplines of theScientific Sports Institute of Foligno (Perugia): this is the first time ever as regards an Italian school and the day was enriched by the first approach of Umbrian students with the new reality. The students of the institute were hosted by the Shooting Foligno, a structure in which the children received a general smattering of the sport and some hints of history. Also, even more significant moment, there was the opportunity to carry out a first practical test directly on the platform.

Present in Foligno were the Technical Commissioner of the Compak Sporting and Sporting specialties , Veniero Spada , as well as the shooter Katiuscia Spada (an Italian member of the Fiamme Oro), the FITAV (Italian Clay Pigeon Shooting Federation) instructor Antonio Picone and the head of the Umbrian youth sector, Christine Maria Brescacin . Among other things, the ASD TAV Foligno is one of the most important in our country and can boast a very long history, starting way back in 1886 (the year of its foundation): it has numerous successes at national, European and Olympic level, in particular the two gold medals and the bronze at the Olympics in Munich (1972) and Moscow (1980), in addition to the five Italian titles and many others.

The sports high school is a very recent institution in Italy, introduced only in 2014. In Foligno, the Guglielmo Marconi Institute offers three hours of sports per week among its subjects, depending on student and parent demand. Therefore, the curriculum varies. For example, it began with rugby, fencing, swimming, and tennis , and now shooting is one of these disciplines. Recent days have confirmed the importance young people place on this sport.

Over the weekend of January 30th and 31st , the youth sector held a major gathering at the AD TAV La Terrina shooting stand in Arezzo, an important Tuscan gathering for the disciplines of Olympic Trap and Skeet . Thirty-five students from both disciplines took turns on the shooting range, complete with a physical training session to assess the shooters' level. Today's historic day could now serve as inspiration for other Italian sports high schools as they decide on their curriculum for the school year.
