For about a year the Cinque Terre National Park has signed an agreement with Department of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Pisa: among the commitments undertaken there are some interesting projects, including the one that involves the use of ultrasonic deterrents against ungulates. As reported by Cittadellaspezia.com, the dissuasion systems were not easy to apply in this part of Liguria, as well as the effectiveness was not satisfactory.
In addition to the usual metal fencesHowever, more and more serious consideration is being given to exploiting a device called "Escape Plus" and which promises to ward off wildlife. Furthermore, ultrasounds are considered reliable, especially in the long term.
There is not only the wild boar to keep the attention: the greatest concerns are raised by wild domestic goat and from roe. The enclosures have been designed for wild boars, but they are not high enough for the jumps of goats and roe deer: another objective of this agreement also foresees to deepen the theme of biodiversity of dry stone walls, given that the boars themselves do not hesitate to destroy them for food.
