A special day
Last Saturday, the UNA (Uomo Natura Ambiente) Foundation had a truly special day in Altamura (Bari), hosting the event "Wild Boars: From Problem to Opportunity." This event provided an opportunity to engage with authoritative and passionate voices from those involved in nature management in the area: Nicola Loizzo, Special Commissioner of the Alta Murgia Park, Professor Pasquale Centoducati of the University of Bari, and Pietro Bulzis of Coldiretti Bari.
Wild boar management
The heart of the meeting, led by Marina Berlinghieri, Head of Institutional Relations at the UNA Foundation, and Antonella Labate, a member of the Foundation's Scientific Committee, explored a crucial topic: wild boar management. A potentially incredible resource that, if not managed wisely, can cause damage to agricultural land, pose a risk to road users, and cause numerous other problems.
From collection to table
The icing on the cake was Alessandro Benatti of Gusto Selvatico APS, who helped demonstrate how the game agri-food chain, from harvest to table, is an example of harnessing this potential resource. In addition to all the guests, the UNA Foundation also thanked an exceptional partner like ENCI, whose commitment to training and selecting hunting dogs ensures that the harvest is always carried out with respect and passion, ensuring an ethical and high-quality supply chain.
