The brand Franchi is part of the Beretta Holding and for some years it has repositioned itself first in the field of smooth-bore semiautomatics, then of the two barrels declined in side-by-side and superimposed with particular focus on small calibers, now quite rightly in vogue, and on the two rifled barrels with the particular destination for wild boar hunting.
The careful eye on the evolution of hunting, including Italian, has recently led to the presentation of the rifled barrel rifle called Horizon, yes to the French for not always being in the Anglophile banality. We certainly cannot speak of banality for this product, which has successfully entered a commercial agon of consolidated signatures, a sign that it is not always true that the devil is hiding in the details because now it is the details that count, highlighting the difference from competitors. . And this is the beautiful reality of Franchi carbine.
The imaginary stakes within which the design has moved are represented by the market and the customer of choice: obviously the USA is always seen as the outlet of greatest satisfaction if you follow the parameters that the average American hunter has firmly in mind, then Europe should not be neglected with a predilection for Italy where many young people have approached hunting, and in particular hunting ball. For both ways of feeling, two elements remain well defined that we find here in the mechanics, just described below, and in the quotation. The second must fall within a very accessible context: it is known that in the United States the dollar is spent with prudent parsimony and exact valuation of the asset to be acquired; with us the matter changes very little and in addition many young people are in their first experience in the sector and want to try, without fainting, if the new attraction towards Nature and its elements will have a sequel.
This is why the technical system is classic, something very different from the banal one mentioned above, and classic means of consolidated architecture with a sliding rotating shutter action (in-line movement is not appreciated by yenkee) in treated steel where the round section castle has the front ring with the integral plinth for the release of forces and the closed rear bridge, of the so-called two-diameter shape: on both are drilled the Remington specific holes for an easy assembly the basis for optics.
The obturator is made up of a cylindrical body with helical grooves and a head with three wings lowered from the main section: the rounded external profile facilitates execution. The recessed face supporting the cartridge, the hole in the firing pin with the elastic pawl of the ejector next to it, the nail of the extractor inserted in one of the fins with orthogonal movement that ensures a stable grip on the bottom of the cartridge are then highlighted. The handlebar is inserted at the back: during rotation, the base of the arm contrasts with the angled rear profile of the bridge, creating the primary extraction. The elongated grip knuckle is functional and aesthetically pleasing as well as the tail cap with a profile consequent to that of the bridge: from the inside protrudes the shank of the firing pin as a cocking warning. The lever for releasing and extracting the bolt is located on the left side.
The external finish
We arrive at the qualifying point of this specific set-up, the external finish of the stock in technopolymer, composed of a very thin paint with a particular optical effect, a mixed camouflage composed of macro and micro designs taken from the plant world in which the hunter moves. To escape the sight of the ungulates, far superior to ours, the macro concurs to conceal the whole of the speargun while the micro confuses it on any terrain. The substance is a kind of invisibility towards wild boar, roe deer, chamois. They remain a distinctive character of the Horizon the four grip areas, all with the appropriate anti-slip knurling, functional to the five most used shooting positions. The butt plate TSA ADV ensures a 50% reduction in recoil sensation. In the mechanics the castle and barrel are covered in Cerakote, a particular compound in the shade Midnight Bronze which ensures durability and resistance of the metal even in extreme climates. The conical cylinder barrel also determines the weight of the shotgun, as per the indications at the bottom. The House ensures accuracy on three hits equal to 1 MOA. The removable magazine contains 4 cartridges + 1 in the barrel, or 3 + 1: in the mirror we indicate the proposed calibers, the barrel lengths, the rifling pitches and the weight.
