Libera Caccia on the question of live calls and the amendments to eliminate the hunting traditions of our country, "they want to be right."
In a country, like ours, where the infringements for which we pay millions and millions of euros in fines are no longer counted, the only thing that seems to dismay many sensitive politicians concerns the hunting and use of "live calls" ". We are under infringement due to an almost infinite string of very serious EU non-compliances: slow justice, prison overcrowding, waste disposal, incorrect wastewater management, lack of control and elimination of alien fauna, closure due to pollution danger of as many as 300 beaches and cliffs out of a total of 313 closed throughout Europe, insufficient or absolute lack of investment in the environment, failure to guarantee security services due to the absence of a single emergency number, freedom of the press, etc. etc. etc..
Not to mention the very sad record over corruption and the underworld and the havoc that overwhelms our poor cultural assets every day, literally sending them to ruin. Well, despite all this shame, the M5S cries out in scandal because the Democratic Party and the League have had the "boldness" to reject their amendment with which they wanted to ban the use of live calls. The beauty is that all this ignoble hype about the incivility of Italian hunting, artfully constructed by the animal-vegan lobby, was denied with extreme firmness by the European Commissioner for the environment Janez Potocnik: "The Commission has not received any element that confirms incompatibility with the directive of seasonal and daily game bags established by the Italian regions for the various huntable species ".
In other words, all the battles of the various environmental associations against the various calendars are nothing more than a ploy to temporarily suspend the hunt by raising an unnecessary fuss in public opinion. From a scientific point of view and according to EU directives, their motivations are completely unfounded and are only the result of an extremist and intolerant ideology of which, it seems, even the M5S wants to join.
For those wishing to deepen the issue, the following press release is attached:
HUNTING, M5S "GOVERNMENT ASKS TO MAINTAIN ATROCESS PRACTICE OF LIVING CALLS AND TO MAKE THE ITALIANS PAID FOR EU INFRINGEMENT". PD AND LEGA SAVE THE "TRADITIONS" AND KILL MIGRATORY BIRDS.
The M5S amendment calling for the abolition of the practice of live calls used in hunting in Italy was voted this morning in the Chamber of Deputies. The government rejects it and opens the way to fines for the infringement procedure in the EU.
Rome . 11 June 2014
- The Democratic Party and the Lega have voted together to maintain the aberrant and illicit tradition of live calls, at the expense of life, of the dignity of thousands of migratory birds that are captured every year to act as bait in hunting, and, last but not least , to the detriment of the pockets of the Italians ". This is the comment of the deputies of the 5 Star Movement in the Agriculture Commission. The amendment, signed by M5S, was rejected in the Chamber with the votes of the Democratic Party and the League. Europe has opened an infringement procedure on this and today's vote will make us meet new costs that will weigh on the pockets of Italians.
"The Government - explains the 5stelle parliamentarian Chiara Gagnarli - tried to climb the mirrors during the discussion in the Chamber by presenting a" decoy "amendment that does not solve anything, indeed, if possible complicates things, and then declares that in this context it was not necessary to enter into the merits of law 157, but it was enough only to resolve the infringement procedure. And how does the government plan to do it? NIntroducing new exceptions. The same ones that Europe has been asking us to stop for 20 years. Just smoke in the eyes, in short. As always. It would have been enough to vote on our amendment, which was also supported by other parties. But the government preferred to embrace the League line and let the hunters' lobby win ”.
"Our amendment, signed by various parliamentary groups, modified law 157 of 1992, prohibiting the capture of birds for the purpose of live call - concludes the deputy - forced into small cages, in the dark, so as to make them lose the perception of time . Birds kept in these conditions can suffer very serious consequences, from almost immediate death to the development of diseases caused by stress immunosuppression; but they can also suffer physical trauma and alterations caused by being subjected to drug treatments based on testosterone, to force them to sing even outside the reproductive period. What is hidden behind the apparent innocence of the name "live call" is actually a real mistreatment of the animal, which as such should be prohibited, hindered and punished ".
