A news program with "surprise"
The evening edition of the TG on 7 November was full of very serious news: news of war, famine, migrants, unemployment, poverty and social hardship. pandemic, accidents at work, homicides and, at the end of this tragic sequence of pain and grief, the newspaper of Channel 5 he found the time to talk about dog abandonment as well. For heaven's sake, a serious news from a moral point of view that becomes even more important because it offers the picture of a society that is only apparently and only in words, friends with pets. In fact, this love, completely "interested" seems to have lasted the short space of the lockdown, those periods of domestic seclusion during which only a small dog could represent the safe conduct for a long series of walks. The extraordinary boom in adoptions of those periods is now followed by the boom in abandonments and returns to kennels of origin.
The third Rai channel
If it had ended here, it would have been "normal" news but, as if to compete with the infamous Rai channel 3 (and perhaps at the urging of a kind Milanese animalist), the Biscione news program managed to throw up the usual poisonous accusations against hunters who, according to a certain Michele Brunetti, “normally” abandon or kill their auxiliaries at the end of the hunting season (which has just begun!). This claim is as dishonest and repugnant as it is ridiculous, and it is a slap in the face of viewers' intelligence. In fact, the hunting season has just begun and therefore it is difficult to understand how a person who has raised, cared for and trained their dogs for long months then decides to abandon them in October and November! And, finally, to support this disgusting thesis that no one, as usual, could contradict, Mr. Brunetti cites the abandonment of a dog (the podenco canario) which is a greyhound practically unknown in our part and absolutely unused by hunters. Italians.
A hateful malpractice
Equally offensive and incorrect is the same news spread with equal prominence in the other critical period of abandonment, that is the beginning of summer and vacation. Even in that case, apart from the evident absence of hunting breed dogs in the various films, it is completely unlikely that a hunter - whose holidays are notoriously shifted to autumn / winter - wait until June 3st or July 365st to leave the his or her dogs on the edge of a highway. Such jokes, which might be barely tolerable in a tavern or in a metropolitan parlor, become disgusting and unacceptable if they are made in a space that should be reserved for the documented correctness of the news and not for ideological propaganda. Once again, we at Libera Caccia do not limit ourselves to publicly denounce this hateful journalistic malpractice but, as we have already done with Rai XNUMX, we intend to take legal action to protect the honor and dignity of many citizens who live there with their dogs. XNUMX days a year, facing expenses and sacrifices and without worrying about the holiday (Paul Sparvoli, President of ANLC).
