There are fewer and fewer days to go twelfth edition of Bernalda's “Wild Boar Festival”, a Ionian town in the province of Matera that is ready to host an event that has now consolidated over time. The event is organized by the local section of theNational Free Hunting Association and the day chosen this year is Saturday 13 August 2016. As happens every year, the festival is an irresistible attraction for the Bernaldese and visitors from all over Basilicata and neighboring regions.
The event takes place in Corso Umberto I in what is a real outdoor garden. As the name suggests, the wild boar is the undisputed star of the day. The food stands will be open for dinner time and you will be able to taste the meat of the ungulate in different variations, even the flavored ones. The typical menu includes dishes of pasta with meat sauce, roast wild boar and other recipes.
In addition, there will be no shortage of salamis that will embellish excellent and steaming toasted sandwiches. The food will be accompanied by glasses of wine, beer and soft drinks. Live music will end the event worthily. Bernalda is also famous for being the city where the grandparents of the famous American director Francis Ford Coppola, career winner of six Academy Awards, lived.
