Paul Panontin, regional councilor for hunting of Friuli Venezia Giulia, announced the go-ahead from the Council of Ministers to the law that is about to be made reform hunting in the northern region. The meeting of the last few hours, in fact, ended with the decision not to challenge the rule, which can now be fully implemented. Panontin also mentioned that this is it the conclusion of the Friulian hunting reform process, as well as the "crowning of a long job".
There have been obstacles to this law, but attention has always been very high to try to remain within the canons of constitutional legitimacy. The Friuli Region feared a series of amendments which would have led to the appeal, even if the final outcome was positive. Now we need the collaboration of all stakeholders to define the latest issues in the best possible way. Panontin is however sure that the result can be achieved in a short time.
This regional law provides for several innovations. In particular, Title IV deals with contributions to create game processing centers, but there is also room for changes on huntable species and the periods of hunting. Finally, there are important references to wildlife programming and to game farms and taxidermy.
