Large participation
A well attended meeting the other evening at the Visitor Centre of the Marshes of Fucecchio in Castelmartini, currently managed by Federcaccia di Larciano. In a packed room, the most representative hunters' associations in the area in the various acronyms, starting from the provincial Federcaccia of Pistoia together with the Municipal ones that insist on the area, of the farmers, of the owners, together with the representatives of the ATC11 Pistoia and ATC5 Firenze Sud all wanted to make known to the mayors of the coastal communities and to the President of the Consorzio4 Basso Valdarno their discomfort for a management of the Padule di Fucecchio that has not corresponded for some time now to the expectations of the people who daily take care of the problems of this important heritage of the Valdinievole.
Unfulfilled expectations
According to what emerged from the passionate interventions, the numerous requests for modifications to the current regulation have so far been mostly ignored and it is expected that the Tuscany Region will find once and for all a solution that corresponds to the expectations of the coastal populations. Many people who love the Padule and hope to see it full of life again as it once was.
Too many predators
In the foreground is the problem of mowing, hampered by provisions and constraints that do not allow for an adequate solution. Too much invasive vegetation, starting with reeds and other invasive plants, while those suitable for the widespread presence of native species are disappearing; too many predators, with a predominance of alien species, up to the need for a definitive assignment of the important state-owned property to the municipalities of respective competence. In closing, local administrators have committed to representing these requests to those responsible at the regional level, so that these problems can be answered soon (source: FIDC).
