The scientific committee of the thirty-third anniversary will meet from 22 to 25 August next congress of the IUGB (International Union of Game Biologists, the international association that brings together the game biologists): in the French city of Montpellier there will be several contributions, including two that have been proposed by theFedercaccia Bird Migration Office. What is it specifically about?
The first contribution is an oral presentation on waterfowl hunting which was based on a ACMA project: we are talking about the hunting results in Italy concerning the period 2003-2012. The second contribution, on the other hand, is a poster relating to levies of the dove. As underlined by the same Office, both presentations will give great prominence and scientific validation to the studies, to be exploited in the official offices, both Italian and European.
These data collected on waterfowl and turtle doves will also be used for the management of species in our country and in the old continent: in particular, knowing the extent and trends of collection relating to the turtle dove is very important to keep hunting and avoid that there are total bans and without a valid reason. Finally, international recognition can only make the association proud.
