Game meat for food solidarity. First delivery to the Tuscan food bank. It is scheduled for next Wednesday 21 July, at 9.30, in the headquarters of the Food Bank of Florence, inside the Fruit and vegetable market (accessible by car from Via dell'Olmatello 2). This is the first delivery of a batch of hunted game meat, following the joint commitment of the regional health and agri-food departments, of the Asl, of the Tuscan hunting territorial areas and the hunting sector. This charity initiative is designed and funded by The Tuscan Regional Authority with the resolution of the Giunta 1147 of 2020 and is aimed at sustenance of families in difficulty, also due to the particular health and economic situation.
The vice president and councilor for agri-food Stefania Saccardi, the councilor for health Simone Bezzini, the president of the Tuscan food bank Leonardo Berni, the coordinator of the Tuscan hunting territorial areas Roberto Vivarelli, some representatives of the local health authorities, the managers of the regional sectors concerned (Collective prevention and wildlife-hunting activities).
The presence of representatives of local Lions Clubs is also foreseen, who - in synergy with the Banco and the game processing centers involved in the initiative - have financed a post-production phase that allows, through freezing, to lengthen the storage times of packaged meat.
