The Oregon 400t GPS is Garmin's first handheld GPS with a TouchScreen display. A hunter, during a long hunt, when chasing a prey for long distances, must know where it is. This satellite system will allow anyone to know their position with extreme precision.
The company was founded in 1989 by Gary Burrell and Min Kao. The two young aerospace engineers, already experts in GPS navigation systems in the military, were convinced (even today they are) that applications related to GPS technology could go beyond the specific and solve different needs of everyday life.
Today Garmin offers, in every sector, cutting-edge technology that simplifies and helps life through technologically advanced but at the same time practical products, in order to satisfy needs in any situation: for work and creative activities, by car or on foot , in sporting activities or at sea. Garmin is an international group that designs, builds and distributes advanced navigation systems in the Automotive, Outdoor / Fitness, Nautical and Civil Aviation sectors. It has developed several product lines distributed throughout the world, and there are now millions of devices sold in New York as in Tokyo, in Milan as in Melbourne. What we present today is GPS Oregon 4oot, the first Garmin handheld GPS with a TouchScreen display.
The "definitive" tool to fully appreciate every outdoor activity. The powerful processor of the Oregon series, combined with the revolutionary Touch Screen display with simplified user interface, allows you to process and view the topographic cartography of all of Europe preloaded in the instrument. The analysis of the digital data contained allows the 3D visualization of the cartography and a three-dimensional navigation in the surrounding environment. In addition to information on the morphology of the terrain, Oregon 400t offers you an excellent map detail of the road network throughout Europe. All this is combined with the solid waterproof structure and the 65K color TFT LCD display. Also in this tool there is the possibility to implement the memory by inserting microSD to increase cartographic detail. Obviously, the Oregon 400t is equipped with an electronic compass and barometric altimeter and is compatible with Garmin fitness accessories. With this satellite system it allows the creation and navigation of road routes with driving instructions with warning tones. The barometric sensor inserted in the instrument calculates the atmospheric pressure and accurately establishes the altitude data. The sensor also allows you to record the barometric pressure trend and display an altitude graph. It is also possible to use the barometric sensor to check the trend of atmospheric conditions. The calibration procedure of this GPS is manual.
The Oregon 400t allows the projection of a waypoint for a given distance and bearing, measures the distance between waypoints, provides information on the best hunting and fishing times, moon phases, sunrise and sunset times, calculation of areas in time real and has functions for Geocache. In addition to the usual calculator, notebook, alarm clock, stopwatch, warning tones and calendar, this GPS provides information on shopping malls, gas stations, geographic points, transport and accommodation, just to name a few. It is also possible to set the layout of the displayed pages, the selection of data fields in the navigation pages, the selection of the color scheme and the intensity of the backlighting and contrast.
The preloaded European topographic cartography is at a scale of 1: 100.000. The integrated USB port for bidirectional transfer of waypoints, routes, tracks and cartography from MapSource DVD, allows connection to your PC, the latter possible with a wireless connection: the latter option allows the exchange of positions with other compatible instruments. The Garmin Oregon 400t GPS system will allow the hunter to know his exact position, in any weather condition. It is a very suitable tool for those who venture into places and territories they do not know, to find their way home.
