Garmin, a leader in GPS technology for 35 years, It retains its pioneering nature also in its founding strategies, which are focused on people sustainability. It confirms this with the opening of its new Italian headquarters, refined together with the expertise of the Architecture studio TQUATTRO. Located in Viale del Ghisallo 12, the building is located in the bustling north-west area of Milan, highly suited to the international tertiary sector, strategic for services, urban connections, green areas and shopping centers.
With 20.000 employees delivering on the brand’s mission in more than 35 countries, Garmin was founded on the belief that if you take care of your people, they will take care of your company.
The new headquarters of Garmin Italy
It is following this global approach that Garmin Italia has chosen the new headquarters for its offices in Milan. Located in Viale del Ghisallo 12, the new Italian hub combines modernity and technological innovation, standing out for its essential lines and healthy space.
The building is at the highest levels of eco-sustainable architecture, which can be seen in the design choices, the materials, the great attention to greenery and the well-being of those who spend their working days there.
The building was created with the highest energy and environmental performance in order to optimize consumption and support a healthy working environment.
The healthiness of the air is maximized by the use of low-toxicity materials and activated carbon filtration systems, while the photovoltaic system on the roof provides a portion of the building's energy.
“For the new headquarters of Garmin Italy we have chosen a cutting-edge building in terms of sustainability and corporate well-being,” said Stefano Viganò, CEO of Garmin Italy. “A commitment that is a priority for us, which we have undertaken with a sense of responsibility towards all the people who make the brand great in our country and who we want to be constantly inspired, productive and enthusiastic about life in the company.
The signal we want to give is clear: Garmin is at the forefront of the markets it serves and we believe that its presence on the territory must go hand in hand. I am proud to inaugurate this headquarters, which makes us even more market leaders projected into the future”.
Thanks to innovative architectural and plant solutions, the new Garmin Italia headquarters is a building registered with the objective of LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, focused on the environment and energy, and WELL® (Well building standard), attentive to the well-being of those who occupy the buildings. Two distinct certifications that however operate in harmony and have allowed us to design a high-performance building in terms of energy and environmental aspects, which at the same time guarantees the well-being of the people who will use the spaces.
Wellbeing for Garmin People
“We strongly wanted an innovative headquarters, capable of hosting spaces that Garmin employees are enthusiastic about living in,” comments Alessandra Torriani, HR Manager & Executive Assistant of Garmin Italy. “This is why we have chosen an environment capable of combining a strong green vocation and extreme attention to the well-being of employees, who from today will have areas available where they can find a balance between business and convivial moments. This will allow them to experience the company not only as a place of work, but also as a stimulus and completion of a healthy lifestyle, useful for promoting teamwork and sharing between people”.
In the building, Garmin employees will be able to dedicate themselves to physical well-being in a Technogym-equipped gym, open and manned 24 hours a day and accessible even on weekends. An essential element for a company devoted to sport like Garmin, which has made its sporting DNA a real flagship and a distinctive element that makes it a leading and unique company on the market.
Garmin has chosen to rely on Technogym because the two brands share the same vision regarding products and digital technologies for fitness, sport, wellness and health. Technogym offers an ecosystem of connected smart equipment, digital services, on-demand training experiences that allow every single Garmin employee to access a unique and cutting-edge training experience.
Attention to well-being will be a constant commitment for Garmin to continue throughout the year, with workshops and speeches by prominent personalities who will alternate in the brand new digital space of Garmin Italia, destined to become a real hub where internal and external expertise, company events and training moments will converge.
In addition to the indoor spaces, Garmin Italia also chose the location for the beauty of the outdoor spaces. Featuring a small courtyard with a garden at the entrance, the building maintains its eco-sustainable vocation even outside.
Sustainability as a corporate strategy
