GENERAL APPEARANCE: classy dog, built for galloping, aspect in relation to its constitution that recalls that of a hunter (hunting horse) capable of carrying weights. The conformation must be harmonious in all its parts.
BEHAVIOR / TEMPERAMENT: intelligent, capable, full of dignity. Bold, sociable, calm and gentle in nature.
HEAD
Longer than wide. Distance from occiput to stop greater than that of stop to nose. The regions around the eye are dry.
CRANIAL REGION
Skull: slightly rounded; reaches the maximum width between the ears. Wider than the muzzle, with a very developed skull.
Stop: clearly marked.
FACIAL REGION
Truffle: thick and wide with very open nostrils. Black colour.
Muzzle: long, with almost parallel lines. Not pointed or whistle. The height of the muzzle must be less than the length.
Lips: not pending; sharply outlined edges.
Cheeks: not very thick.
Jaws / Teeth: strong and scissor joint.
Eyes: neither sunken nor prominent, but well placed within the orbital arches. Dark brown in color and bright, with a lively and intelligent expression.
Ears: medium-sized and thin. Set low and close to the head.
NECK: long, lean and curved (upper lines convex), devoid of baleen
BODY
Medium length.
Lumbar region: wide and slightly vaulted.
Chest: deep, not too wide. Ribs well sprung, well developed back into the chest.
TAIL: straight or slightly scimitar. It must not go below the hock. It is carried horizontal or immediately below the line of the back when the animal is in action. Thick at birth, it tapers progressively and ends in a fine tip. Well endowed with long fringes that progressively shorten from the root towards the tip.

FOREQUARTERS
Strong, with flat and straight bones.
Shoulder: Shoulder blades long and very sloping back, flat, broad and close together at the withers. Not heavy.
Elbow: close to the body and deep.
Pastern: upright.
BACK LIMBS
The hind limbs, from the hip to the hock, are long, broad and muscular; strong and short from hock to foot. The limbs are straight of the joint of the hock to the ground. The pelvis tends towards the horizontal.
Stifle: well angled.
FEET : oval, toes tightly closed and well arched. Abundant interdigital hair. Very full digital tubercles and thick pads.
GAIT / MOVEMENT: Regular, free and frank gaits, with strong drive from the hindquarters.
COAT
HAIR: short and fine hair on the head, front of the limbs and ends of the ears. Of medium length over the rest of the body, flat and without curls or undulations. The fringes at the top of the ears are long and silky. Those on the back of the limbs are long, fine, flat and straight. Presence of a fringe that extends from the throat to the belly. Fringes as far as possible not curled and free of undulations.
Color: intense and shiny charcoal black, without a trace of red, but with tan markings of a bright chestnut red. Black streaks are allowed on the fingers, as well as black lines on the jaws. Tan markings above the eyes not exceeding 2 cm (3/4 inch) in diameter. The tan markings on the muzzle must not exceed the height of the base of the nose and form a band surrounding the tip of the muzzle. There are two large clearly defined spots under the throat and on the chest. Spots on the inside of the hind limbs and thighs, extending to the anterior part of the stifle and widening to reach the outer face of the hind limbs, from the hock to the toes. The tan color extends to the back of the forelegs from the elbow to the wrists in front. Tan spots around the anus. A small white spot on the chest is allowed. No other colors are allowed.
