There are several reasons to spend the weekend of 19-20 September 2015 in Gorgonzola (opposite, photo by Mario Bianchi). Easily reachable from Milan with the MM2 green line of the underground (Gorgonzola stop, direction "Gessate") or pedaling out of the traffic along the Martesana canal (on what has been classified as the 3rd most beautiful cycle path in Italy), it is a historic center where you can discover particularly suggestive views of the urban landscape, with ancient buildings, bridges, open spaces and views.
Here the complete menus and information.
Other discoveries can be made here by meeting one of the most famous Italian cheeses in the world, which finds its rituals all year round in the streets of the center: restaurants, delicatessens, bakeries and even ice cream parlors offer Gorgonzola cheese "in purity" or as an ingredient in savory and sweet specialties: the apotheosis of this celebration is of course represented by the "National Gorgonzola Festival". The festival has been attracting for years not only tourists from all over Italy, but also from Europe and other continents: it is a celebration of exchange of cultures, mentality and food tastes, an opportunity to celebrate the close relationship between two worlds, pre-Alps and plains, between the valleys where the herds stayed and the plain that welcomed them between September and October.
During the festival it became normal to ride with the "Gorgopass" which allows you to taste two dishes of your choice in the various refreshment points and to buy the official Gorgonzola cheese of the Sagra at a discounted price at the dedicated spaces of the Pro Loco. As always, the gorgopass can be purchased in the Infopoints on the bridge in Milan, at the Sagra entrance, and in Piazza Italia; it will thus be possible to approach the cheese in the sweet and spicy versions, in first and second courses.
“Do you want to meet them? Beware of your salivation! So: Risotto Rosa Segreto (which ingredient gives the particular color of this year's risotto?), Lasagne with Gorgonzola and sautéed mushrooms, Polenta with Zola and glass of wine, Vegetarian Pennette with buckwheat and zola, Gnocchi with Gorgonzola. But this year the Gorgopass will give the opportunity to have a snack in a particular gazebo, that of Wamba - Association for the support of the poor populations of Kenya, in Piazza della Repubblica. Alongside the tastings there will be educational workshops, artisan reviews, exhibitions, demonstrations of the processing of this product and, of course, a greedy market. Without forgetting the Osteria della Pro Loco, whose cuisine is now worthy of the best television programs in the industry. Here is the sensational menu of this year: Appetizers: Lombard cured meats / cheese platter First: green gnocchi with zola or tomato / pasta with zola or tomato Seconds: baked pork ribs / braised beef with Gutturnio Side dishes: Potatoes or beans in salads / French fries For children: Pasta with tomato and basil + Breaded chicken slices with fries ”, reads a note from the organization.
