Various topics addressed: protection of biodiversity with the management of the collection of wild fruits, the development of the game meat supply chain, the defense of natural and quality food, the promotion of tourism including hunting, protection against fires and the recognition of wildlife hunting activities at equal to agricultural activities for the purpose of maintaining ecosystems, the role of the farmer as custodian of biodiversity and the consequent protection of agricultural areas, which are now highly threatened. An important step relating to the redevelopment of the figure of the hunter also through the training and information of the youngest who, too often, are influenced by a unambiguous, propaganda and distorted communication of reality.
Farmers, park authorities, players in the hunting world and citizens committed to a healthy culture of the environment can actively contribute to the implementation of initiatives capable of achieving useful results for the green transition and sustainable development starting from the restoration of habitats and control of certain wild species that have a high economic and social impact assessment. The approach to evaluations and the consequent decisions must be based on a scientific criterion for the problem, not governed exclusively by sentiment.
Minister Lollobrigida underlined how, today more than ever, it is essential to regain possession of skills that we have too often delegated in favor of globalization which, with the current situation, is showing an extreme fragility of the system.
Among all the participants, the need for a shared method for the problems and above all for the study of solutions was strongly highlighted. This is no longer the time for internal conflicts that are counterproductive for the entire sector.
At the end of the day, a memorandum of understanding was signed, aimed at qualifying the fauna hunting activity in our country which sees, summarized in five points, the first fundamental actions for the protection and balanced development of biodiversity:
1) The qualification of the wildlife hunting activity in line with the European legal system, through the recognition of the wildlife hunting activity on a par with agricultural activities for the purpose of maintaining the ecosystems of wild fauna and flora and the services offered with the authorized sampling plans .
2) Management of the collection of wild fruits within wildlife companies through the attribution to the holders of rights and management, care and control obligations imposed by legislation on an agricultural entrepreneur.
3) Creation of national legislation for the game meat supply chain in order to protect, both from a commercial and gastronomic point of view, the important and representative role of the strong bond that this meat has with regional and national food traditions as well as create the economy and generate work, especially in the internal areas of the country
4) Encourage the use of the services offered by wildlife institutes also through the development of tourism in many Italian regions.
5) The need to set up the automatic renewal of concessions for the owners of companies in the sector in order to guarantee operational continuity.
