Hare hunting. The Province, with a provision taken today, has decided to bring forward the closure of the hare hunting.
This activity can no longer be carried out in the Territorial Areas of Hunting PC 1; 2; 3; 5; 6; 7; 8; 9; 10 and 11, after November 22. The decision was made following the assessment of the trend of the withdrawals deducted from the return of the summary tickets provided for in the hunting calendar.
In particular, it was observed that, in most of the ATCs, the minimum threshold of 30% of the programmed game bag was not reached, documenting a presence of the species below the estimates.
This evaluation, together with the encouraging, but not decisive, results of the monitoring carried out in the Restocking and Capture areas (institutes dedicated to rebalancing the levels of hunted populations) led the Province, with the support of the Wildlife Hunting Consultative Commission, to further reduce the hunting pressure, to safeguard the nuclei of residual animals. However, it will still be possible to train hounds until November 29th.
«We underline the sense of responsibility of the hunting world - says Massimo Castelli, managing director of hunting - which has been able to make its own and respect the rules that were shared last spring, in the project for the protection of hare populations. For our part, we will continue to deploy all the resources we have to speed up the recovery of a species so important not only for Piacenza hunters, but for the agroecosystems in which most of us live and work ».
