The last few weeks have been characterized by an increase in reports and sightings of specimens of Hermit Ibis. The more or less close encounters had in common the place, that is to say the Italian regions of North-East. As reported by the Italian Federation of Hunting, the latest report is just seven days ago, when a shareholder observed and photographed the bird closely at Oca Marina, a town near Cuttack (province of Rovigo).
The Ibis are proving to be very confident, therefore they are not afraid of man: this, however, also means that poachers can have an easy life. The hunting association is collaborating with Waldrappteam (body that deals with the reintroduction of the species) to make the monitoring network even stronger. Federcaccia also recalled the awareness work that has been involving associates and hunters for some time, aware of the status of a protected species.
