There are 19 Ibis Eremita that are migrating and among these there is also the bird adopted by Italian Federation of Hunting: It is Artemide, arrived near Predappio (Forlì-Cesena) just three days ago, Sunday 24 April 2016. As reported by the same association, in March the birds moved from the wintering area of Orbetello towards Austria and Germany (in their reproductive "neighborhood" to be precise). The first to migrate were the more experienced migrants, so much so that it has already reached the nesting areas.
The Ibis Artemide can be easily followed via a free application available on smartphones, Animal Trackers. The official note appeals to hunters, since their help is needed as "true connoisseurs of nature". The arrival in Burghausen in Upper Bavaria is considered an incredible success compared to what has happened in recent years, as well as progress for the Life + project.
Now hunters, but not only, are invited to report the ibises in case of sighting, sending a photo and spreading the news about the presence of the rare species in the skies of our country. The project "Reason for Hope", which aims to reintroduce the Ibis Eremita in the European continent, is trying to raise awareness and inform the hunting world as much as possible with a constant presence in the hunting fairs.
