For the usual weekly appointment on the migration pass in Italy, ANUU Migratoristi announces that migration has had a good recovery in this period.
The first week of October was characterized by a good resumption of migration with a good weather thanks to the Azores anticyclone dominating the whole Mediterranean basin, from Portugal to Turkey, which, by setting itself against the wide depression circulation present from Iceland in central-northern Europe, it created a low pressure that was not very positive with the obvious weather consequences of the case. In this context, the pass has developed positively, highlighting the good presence of the Black Tit and the Blackcap.
At the FEIN Ornithological Observatory in Arosio an excellent presence was noted in the Siskin and the Chaffinch, with groups composed of numerous moving subjects, and the appearance of the Frosone and the Sweeper accompanied the massive arrival of the Song Thrush with numerous individuals ringed, as happened on Thursday 4 October, where a big owl was also ringed for the second time in the history of the Observatory.
Among the more sedentary species, we note the good presence of Woodpeckers and Tit in general, including the Long-tailed Tit. Few of the Blackbirds, while the passage of the Colombaccio is discreet. Transharian migrants such as the Beccafico, the Redstart, the Black Balia and the Rondine are still passing through.
These species, mingling with more late migrants, are making the field study very interesting but, at the same time, very varied, thus cheering up the days of maximum commitment to the knowledge of the migratory phenomenon.
