Turdidae Hunting: FIdC Birdlife Migratory Office expresses disappointment and disdain for the early closure of the species Thrush Bottaccio, Cesena and Woodcock.
The national vice president Lorenzo Carnacina, head of the Fidc Bird Migration Office, sharing what has already been expressed by the National Presidency, expresses all his indignation and that of the Office he represents, towards the very serious act carried out yesterday by the Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the Ministry of the Environment, towards the Regions, with which the closure of the hunting for song thrush, cesena and woodcock to January 20, with the motivation to prevent an infringement procedure by the European Commission, misrepresenting what was only a request for information. The world of hunting and in particular that of migratory people is deeply disappointed by what has happened. The superficial attitude of the Government and the Minister in dealing with a complex issue, but which responds to very specific rules such as that of hunting calendars, has generated an arrogant, spurious, unmotivated provision based on incorrect assumptions, which in fact does not respect the provisions by the European Directives or as established by the Italian legislation.
The Minister seems to want to forget the environmental havoc that our country is experiencing by unloading the problems of the territory on hunting, with an unacceptable attitude. We would have expected and still expect a very different assumption of responsibility and attention not only of the hunting world, but of all citizens who believe in public institutions and in compliance with the law. There has been an undemocratic provision, against the law in force, against hunting and in particular migration which for years has been subjected to serious limitations in Italy, higher than those provided for by the Birds Directive and by the Interpretative Guide itself, technical and regulatory requirements which are the Regions were adequate to fix the calendars for January 31st.
Convinced of the sustainability of our positions on the matter, however, it is not our intention to give up and for this reason we will continue to give full support in all offices to the Regions that intend to oppose what was approved by the Council of Ministers.
