Hunting and Weapons in Italy. The Permanent Observatory on Weapons Read and security and defense policies of Brescia launches into demagogic considerations on weapons and citizens. Obviously, the scapegoat is once again the B7! Will they ever stop making fun of the citizens?
In a recent article, Corriere della sera dealt with firearms, with the collaboration of Giorgio Beretta, spokesman for the Permanent Observatory on Small Arms and Security and Defense Policies of Brescia. The subject of the article was related to the lack of transparency of the Ministry of the Interior, in relation to the availability of updated data on the number of weapons legitimately held by Italian citizens for hunting, shooting and self defense. It is estimated, in fact, that there are between seven and ten million, while the holders of weapons would be 4 million. The only updated data available is that relating to valid firearms licenses, which amount to just over one million.
But the most disconcerting aspect can be found at the bottom of the article: when asked, in fact, by the journalist whether progress has been made "in terms of the circulation of dangerous weapons", Beretta replies: "When handling a weapon, the risk is 'is always. And therefore limit, as the recent anti-terrorism decree did, category B7 weapons, that is i semiautomatic shotguns, it was certainly good for the citizens. This type of weapon could even be used for hunting with the possibility of detention in unlimited numbers, thus leaving the way open to the formation of small armed groups ”.
These are very serious statements to say the least, emblematic of how much the interviewee does not have the faintest idea of the subject he is dealing with. It is not clear what the scandal is about the fact that the B7s could "even" be used for hunting, given that in the vast majority of cases they have the same caliber in common with other very normal weapons intended for hunting and the framework law on hunting. however, it prevents hunting with magazines with a capacity greater than 2 rounds (5 for wild boar).
Therefore, beyond the “bad” aspect, it is not clear what difference there is from a practical point of view between hunting with a B7 or with a B4. The detention in unlimited numbers for the B7 is (was) however irrelevant for the purposes of public order and safety, since "unlimited" detention does not mean "anonymous": every weapon had to (and still must) be reported to the Authority of Public Safety.
Finally, as regards the hypothesis that the possession of "unlimited" B7 weapons could be used to form "small armed groups" with possible subversive or criminal purposes, the news categorically denies what was stated: the last, and for many unique verse, the case in which a weapon similar to the B7, legally detained, was used for criminal purposes dates back to the time of the crimes of the "White One". Now, for the robberies of security carriers and any other need, we can easily turn to the clandestine market of the Ak 47….
The ministerial lie, therefore, is destined to perpetuate itself and pass from mouth to mouth until it turns into truth. Beware, however, that for citizens the problems of security and weapons are very different and time, unfortunately, will show this.
