TRENT. New nets along the fences and the capture entrusted to hunters. “In order to solve in an organic way the problem of the presence of wild rabbits in the monumental cemetery - a note from Palazzo Thun reads - the Municipal Administration, also in light of the decisions taken in recent months by the Wildlife Committee, which authorize the Municipality to exercise control of the wild rabbit species, has activated a series of coordinated and shared initiatives with the various subjects, internal and external, involved for the part of their respective competence. In recent days, new structural interventions have begun, aimed at eliminating the current situation of permeability in the cemetery area and inhibiting the access of new animals to the cemetery ”.
“In particular, further protection nets are being laid along the two entrance gates of the cemetery and interventions are being carried out along the ramp adjacent to the railway. The operations of capturing the rabbits present inside the cemetery are entrusted to the professionalism of the Trentino Hunters Association. The captured animals will be placed in suitable structures that have declared themselves available to welcome them, such as farms and educational farms ".
“From the estimate made on the number of animals present in the cemetery, we are confident that the placement in suitable structures can take place for all the rabbits captured. However, since the Administration's objective is to solve the problem quickly and no longer be postponed, the Provincial Wildlife Committee, which met yesterday afternoon, was asked to be able to make use of all the possibilities alternatively provided for by the provincial legislation ".
