Hunters and Hunters: Lazio, the dialogue with the Region and the demonstrated willingness stop the protest demonstration organized by the Federcaccia and which would otherwise have been held on 14 July.
Unity is strength, it must be said. Federcaccia Lazio rejoices for a first victory for the regional hunting world, together with the other hunting associations that have joined his proposal to hold a demonstration in front of the regional building. In the meeting held yesterday in the Agriculture Commission, the highest local institution suddenly proved willing to dialogue with the representatives of hunters, who attended the meeting in full force. The commissioner Sonia Ricci and the president of the Commission Mario Ciarla were present, together with the director of the Agriculture Department Roberto Ottaviani. From the confrontation, frank but loyal, the discontent of the Lazio hunters emerged but, at the same time, also some specific commitments that the Region has taken on, and which convinced the representatives of the hunting world to temporarily suspend the event.
In detail, the Lazio Region has undertaken to grant two pre-opening days, in this case on 2 and 6 September; to postpone the hunting season until February 10 for the wood pigeon species and for all corvids; to confirm the closure of the woodcock season on January 20; to momentarily confirm the closure to the turdids on January 20 but with the commitment, taken personally by the councilor, to extend the season until the end of the month in the presence of new documents; finally to review, with regard to wild boar hunting, the incomprehensible limit of 41 fixed days, in the face of continuous damage to crops and a hunting calendar that would allow about sixty.
Councilor Ricci also apologized for having brought together the coordination only once in the last year, but on the other hand announced the imminent opening of a technical-scientific discussion table, whose convocation dates will be agreed together with the hunting associations. . At this point, if the Region maintains the commitments it made yesterday in front of the hunting world, the event announced for July 14 may no longer be necessary; the regional executive obviously remains under the magnifying glass of the representatives of the hunters and, consequently, the state of agitation remains.
However, Federcaccia Lazio, who with his regional president Aldo Pompetti had launched the idea of the march, and who yesterday was also present with his provincial presidents and his councilor of the national presidency Leandro Calzetta, can be said to be satisfied with both the total membership to the initiative by the regional hunting world and, above all, to the commitments snatched from the Lazio Region, one of the most difficult realities in Italy in the field of hunting and land management.
