With the European Firearms Card (CEAF) all the firearms (sporting use) listed in the card can be transported and brought.
Before traveling to European hunting destinations, the hunter should check that all the documents for the transport of his weapon are in order. To simplify hunting trips, the European Firearms Card has taken care of it.
We often talk about hunting trips within the Italian and European territory. Yes, but how is the matter relating to the transport of firearms managed? In a particularly simple way, thanks to that document that is commonly known as the European Firearms Card (CEAF). It is granted to all hunters who request it, obviously if they already have a license to which it must necessarily be attached. Effectiveness and temporal validity will be similar for both documents and in principle we can remember that in no case can it exceed 5 years, after which the documentation must be renewed. A particular case is that of firearms belonging to category "d"; in that case the validity of the document can be extended up to 10 years and can be extended.
Getting the card is really a breeze. It will be sufficient to send your request to the Questore, by going directly to the offices of the Area Commissariat, to the Police Headquarters, or to the Carabinieri station, in case of lack of a Commissariat.
The request will not be drawn up on plain paper, but must be made by filling in a form that can be taken directly from the offices in charge. Once the document has been clearly completed and in all its parts, the following must be attached to it:
- two electronic stamps of € 14,62, which must be applied both on the request and on the Card;
- a substitutive declaration certifying the possession of all the necessary authorizations for the possession of a weapon, for the port and transport of weapons for the Italian territory, together with all the documentation that the competent bodies have issued;
- the data that will allow the identification of the weapon or weapons up to a maximum of ten, which will be inscribed on the card. For each one must appear the type, model and brand, caliber and serial number, to be clear, all the data already present in the report;
- in addition, the payment made for the cost of the card must be attached, equal to 0,80 euros which become 2,00 in the event that the bilingual card is to be requested. The payment must be made to the Provincial State Treasury. All the details will be provided without difficulty by the competent Territorial Office;
- finally, two passport photos must not be missing, half-length and bare-headed.
Once the Card has been obtained, all the authorizations granted for Italy will be extended to the countries of the European Community, in which all the weapons listed in the card can be transported and brought, obviously having a hunting or more generally sporting use.
Have a good trip!
