The Bergamo hunters contest the provincial hunting department and demand the resignation of the councilor Cottini and all the staff.
On the evening of last Thursday, an assembly was held in Bergamo, at the Casa del Giovane, in which about two thousand hunters took part to discuss the various problems that haunt the Bergamo hunting world, including the Wildlife Hunting Plan.
A few hours earlier, a meeting had been held between the provincial hunting department and the exponents of the Bergamo hunting associations gathered in the CUPAV, the Provincial Unitary Coordination, which did not give the desired results therefore at the evening assembly at the Youth House the two thousand participating hunters gave vent to all their discontent.
All Bergamo hunters with one voice have asked for the resignation of the provincial hunting councilor, Alessandro Cottini, and his staff contesting the choices made above all with regard to the Hunting Wildlife Plan, which is still under development but which is already more in keeping with the demands of the WWF environmentalists than those of the hunting world.
Among the first to speak is the Provincial President of Federcaccia, Lorenzo Bertacchi, “We are not here to be taken by the nose. We know how things are really going and we do not intend to undergo a wildlife plan imposed by the WWF".
At risk according to hunters would be the future of hunting for about 14.000 enthusiasts, their hunting lodges and the huntable areas themselves which would be greatly reduced; in fact, the regional coordinator of the Lombard Hunters Association, Fortunato Busana, affirmed on the matter, “For us even a single hut is sacred and we will not let it be stolen by the WWF”.
Finally, the president of Anuu Migratoristi, Carlo Piffari, explains critically "They put us in a condition of blackmail: either the Wildlife Plan passes or the WWF will make a new appeal and the hunting season will not open. The Province has sold the skin of us hunters to the WWF and this does not suit us ”.
