Caccia: Mantua, the Municipality turns around and in the last session of the Executive Council removes the ban on hunting on the municipal area previously contained in a Regulation for the Protection of Animal Welfare.
The Municipality of Mantua, with the decision taken in the last meeting of the council, has reversed the ban on hunting introduced throughout the municipal territory. On the provision Federcaccia Lombardia had announced a few days ago the presentation of an appeal to the Brescia TAR against the Municipality of Mantua, which by adopting the Regulations for the Protection of Animal Welfare had, completely unexpectedly and without any power in this regard, introduced in addition to the hunting ban throughout the municipal area, a whole series of restrictions and prohibitions bordering on the absurd. Federcaccia Lombardia had specified that the appeal intended to reaffirm the principle that hunting matters are not the competence of the Municipalities and is governed by provincial, regional and national planning, underlining the intention to carefully monitor the regulations that will be proposed in the future in the municipalities of the region. , "In order to prevent and, if necessary, promptly intervene if other attempts should occur to pass acts like this, abusive and in contrast with current legislation on the matter.
In the session of March 3, therefore, the council voted to abolish article 23 which provides for a ban on hunting throughout the municipal area. The administrative act must also be approved by the municipal council to enter into force definitively.
