The hunters' demonstration held yesterday, January 4, 2012 in Cagliari in front of the Palazzo della Regione, received considerable consent and participation from hunters from all over Sardinia.
In fact, hundreds participated, many more than those expected by the organizers, presenting themselves with whistles, trumpets and someone presented with the shoulder rifle obviously brought unloaded inside the case.
With yesterday's demonstration, the hunters wanted to protest the recent and penalizing changes to the Hunting Calendar consider "yet another mugging for a category that spends good money every year only for passion".
The changes in question were made last December 23 by the Regional Fauna Committee following the sentence of the Council of State which denied the extension of the hunting period.
So i Sardinian hunters from the early hours of yesterday morning began to preside over the Department of the Environment in order to be able to "warmly" welcome the members of the Regional Fauna Committee who would soon meet to decide on a possible extension.
The appointment of the Wildlife Committee follows the pressing protests at the end of the year and the questioning signed by the regional councilors Ignazio Artizzu, Paolo Terzo Sanna, Sisinnio Piras, Mariano Contu, Edoardo Tocco and Nello Cappai.
Despite the previous protests and the questioning, yesterday's mobilization of the hunters did not, however, give the desired outcome. In fact, the Wildlife Committee approved "the continuation of the hunting activity for January, providing for an extension for the species: cesena, song thrush and redwing thrush until January 19, 2012. Therefore, hunting of these species is also allowed on 12 days, 15, and 19 January 2012. The decree will enter into force on the day of publication in the Buras of 7 January 2012 ".
Obviously, the recovery of the further three days of hunting certainly did not satisfy the hunters who ask: “But where does our money go? How long has the Region not carried out a census of the species and a restocking? ”.
Obviously, a reaction from environmental associations could not be missing, threatening yet another appeal; Stefano Deliperi, of the Legal Intervention Group, in fact stated, “I had announced that the appeal was ready, to send it we will wait to have the minutes of the Committee meeting with the names of those who voted in favor. Then, we will forward it to the European Court of Justice, to the Court of Auditors and also to the Public Prosecutor's Office ”.
Deliperi then continues concluding, "This is a gift to the hunters who took to the streets to protest. But I am sure that the Council of State will reiterate what it already said a few days ago in the sentence that caused the cut of the days. Because at the basis of the nullity of the extension just granted there is the lack of the fundamental opinion of ISPRA. We are witnessing the umpteenth carnival ”.
