Hunting and Territory: Basilicata, the Region increases the funds to compensate the damage caused by wildlife to crops.
To cope with the increase in damage caused to agricultural crops and livestock by wild animals, especially wild boars, the Basilicata Region has increased the resources for refreshments. With the 2014 Regional Stability Law, in fact, the law establishing the fund intended to compensate agricultural entrepreneurs whose crops have been damaged by wild or feral animals was modified. The available resources grow because from now on all the proceeds of the regional concession tax for the issue and renewal of the license to practice hunting are allocated to it instead of just "? A portion?" as it happened before. According to the regional councilor for the environment Michele Ottati, this novelty? "Represents the first of a series of initiatives, some suggested by the same representatives of the agricultural world at meetings held last April, aimed at preventing and limiting damage caused to agricultural crops and livestock production in the Lucanian agricultural sector? ".
