Hunting and Territory: Mantua, hunters busy cleaning the banks of the Po and the municipal roads of Semide (MN).
With the arrival of Spring, cleaning is done and as has been the custom for almost twenty years now, the Federcaccia of Sermide, in the province of Mantua, gathered a good group of hunters to clean the banks of the Po on April 7th. the swollen river, in order not to run unnecessary dangers, however, it was decided to turn attention to the secondary roads of the municipality of Sermide. The Municipality has made available a truck, black plastic bags and disposable gloves; with the help of this means, the hunters gathered on the main bank of the Po, from Sermide to Moglia, and along the internal roads.
A second truck kindly provided by a volunteer collected the roads in the valley in Caposotto and in via Cioppi. A third truck, loaned by another volunteer, was used to clean up the roads between S. Croce and Malcantone. Finally, to complete the collection, some hunters, with their private vehicles, have cleaned up the main embankment of Caposotto and the road that goes to Roversella - Pantera.
The harvest began at 7.30 and despite the beautiful sunny day, it encountered moments of difficulty because the rain of recent days, in addition to filling numerous ditches with water, accelerated the growth of the grass, sometimes hiding foreign bodies. . In the ditches, filled with water, it was necessary to resort to the use of crampons and poles with great risk for hunters to end up inside.
At 11.00 am meeting on the Digagnola embankment for a final balance, before taking the collected material to the Caposotto landfill for disposal. Among glass and plastic bottles and some bags of rubbish that some rude thought of sowing, the discovery of a moped, with its helmet, in a ditch near Santa Croce, stood out.
At the Digagnola meeting place, decorated for the occasion, the classic hunter's snack could not be missing, “Pan and Salam!”, Good wine and good company; at the end of the day greetings with the invitation to renew the meeting next year to keep the area clean, beautiful and eco-sustainable.
