Larsson's awards
This week, leaders of Europe's national hunting associations, representing over 7 million hunters, gathered in Brussels for the General Assembly of the FACE. One of the highlights of the event was the election of the new FACE President and the appointment of the members of the FACE Board of Directors. Special recognition was given to the outgoing FACE President, Torbjörn Larsson, who successfully completed his second three-year term. During his two terms, Larsson's leadership brought substantial organizational progress and reform to FACE.
Great progress
The members expressed their gratitude for his dedication and expressed their intention to consolidate the progress achieved during his term. The General Assembly then appointed Torbjörn Larsson as Honorary President of FACE. The FACE Members elected Laurens Hoedemaker as the new President. A veterinarian by profession and a very experienced FACE delegate, having previously served as Vice President and Treasurer, Laurens Hoedemaker is well acquainted with FACE’s activities and is expected to provide valuable input and further impetus to FACE’s representation efforts.
The Future of FACE
Reflecting on the unity of European hunters, Hoedemaker noted: “Hunters united in diversity: This reflects our common commitment to hunting and conservation. Although we have different hunting cultures and traditions in Europe, we are united in our aim to conserve biodiversity and promote sustainable hunting for future generations.” The FACE Council was also elected for the next three years. In addition to the new presidential appointment, the assembly approved the FACE Work Plan for 2025 and key policy positions for the coming year. These include a new FACE position on improving biodiversity in the next Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
