Hunting and Fauna: from the Puglia Region some clarifications for the Province of Lecce on the restocking plan and game emissions.
The Hunting and Fishing Service of the Rural Development Policies Area of the Puglia Region, with note 852 of last March 28, has ordered that the Province of Lecce may, pending the modification of regional regulations, authorize its own Territorial Hunting Area ( ATC) to carry out the restocking of game provided annually in accordance with the provisions of art. 33 - paragraph 1 - of Regional Law no. 1/08, without taking into account the provisions of art. 16 of the 2009-2014 Regional Hunting Wildlife Plan. The art. 33 of Regional Law 1/2008 provides that ATCs must use “…. items coming exclusively from national and mainly Apulian farms ".
In this way, the limitations provided for by Article 16 of the 2009-2014 Regional Hunting Wildlife Plan are finally overcome, which instead establishes that "restocking must be carried out with fauna of native species reproduced in the natural state". This last condition is, in fact, impossible to satisfy on the regional territory since, as repeatedly attested by the same Hunting and Fishing Service of the Puglia Region, there is no Apulian breeding authorized for "natural reproduction".
This important result was achieved thanks to the efforts made by the provincial councilor Salvatore Polimeno, by the Hunting Protection Office of the Province and by the President of the ATC Province of Lecce who, in perfect synergy, strongly urged the Puglia Region to intervene. faced with a problem that would otherwise be absolutely unsolvable in compliance with the provisions of current regulations.
The validity and solidity of the problems raised by the Province of Lecce and the ATC "Province of Lecce" are further confirmed by the "exceptional authorization for the release of game" issued by the Puglia Region, waiting to change the legislation as soon as possible in question in order to make the entry of game easier and more regulated.
It is useful to remember that this entry takes place exclusively with the money paid by the hunters and also regards the areas off-limits to hunting.
