Hunting and Fauna: Abruzzo, the councilor for hunting, Mauro Febbo at the conference on “Hunting and protected areas: what future for Abruzzo”, a model of wildlife and hunting management.
The current Regional Hunting Wildlife Plan (PFVR) is now obsolete and no longer responds to the needs of the Abruzzese territory. This year, thanks to the new management path undertaken by the councilor with responsibility for hunting, Mauro Febbo, through the reorganization of the Departmental structures, the political and administrative process for the preparation of a new Wildlife Plan was started. In Abruzzo, there are several critical issues that have emerged due to an "incorrect" management of the wildlife heritage. “Just for the reimbursement of damage to agricultural crops - says Febbo - in the Abruzzo region almost two million euros are spent every year (between protected and non-protected areas) and road accidents caused by wildlife are increasingly on the rise. With regard to species such as bear and wolf, the areas outside the parks and the ZPE of the PNALM act as a link between the various protected areas and a correct management of these is very important to favor the expansion of the bears to new areas. as well as proper management of wolf populations. Against this, we have a fragmentation of skills in the area, in the field of wildlife management, between national and regional parks, reserves, territorial hunting areas, provinces and regions that do not allow proper management of projects and interventions on the territory ". These will be the themes of a conference, entitled "Hunting and protected areas: what future for Abruzzo", scheduled for tomorrow, Friday 29, at the conference room of the Villanova di Cepagatti agri-food center, starting at 9,00 .
"The main function of the PFVR - explains Febbo - will be to prepare criteria and guidelines for public administrations and ATCs in order to coordinate all initiatives concerning wildlife, as well as preparing appropriate protocols with the Park Authorities for joint management of animal populations that know no administrative boundaries. The acquisition of data, also for the purposes of planning hunting samplings, is also an indispensable prerequisite for a more correct wildlife management. The modification made to 157/92 by Law 96/2010 "Community law 2009" makes the preparation of the new PFVR even more urgent. The conference scheduled for tomorrow therefore represents a moment of meeting and comparison for a national analysis on the state of management of species of considerable conservation interest present in the Abruzzo Region as well as a phase of reflection to better organize the work of the future PFVR ". In addition to the councilor Febbo, the leading scientific authorities in the international field will participate as speakers at the working day.
