Hunting and Fauna: Chieti, D'Amico councilor on the containment of wild boars in the provincial territory, "Only promises from the Agriculture Commission".
"In the council commission 'Agriculture, Hunting and Fishing', convened at our request this morning to find out the state of implementation of the wild boar containment plan, we witnessed the reiteration of the usual and ritual promises that are still being planned with the Territorial Areas of Hunting (Atc), that the implementation follows its natural course and the selecontrollers will soon be able to operate as long as they are assisted by the Mayors in indicating the areas with the highest density of wild animal presence ".
Thus in a note the leader of the Democratic Party in the Provincial Council in Chieti, Camillo D'Amico, who adds: "The councilor delegate, Franco Moroni, recently appointed and for years innocent spectator of the concerned non-compliance implemented by the hunting delegate Giovanni Staniscia. Poor councilor Moroni could give us nothing more than to ask forgiveness for an abysmal delay that made the province of Chieti the last in the entire Abruzzo region to put in place an organic containment program which, although approved by the Provincial Council on 13 September 2013, he dozed in who knows which drawer before he was pulled out and started to implement. In the meantime, after the hunting season which naturally reduced the number of wild boars by virtue of the numerous slaughterings, the damage to agricultural production, road accidents and numerous sightings of herds that create danger to public safety have started again. We are informed of many sightings, especially in the Vasto area, both coastal and inland ”.
"The legislature is definitely coming to an end - concludes D'Amico - and the province, as a body as it has been known up to now, is running out of time but this legislature will go down in history as well as for the total immobility that has distinguished it in matter of interventions on the viability also because nothing has been done to solve the age-old problem of the high number of wild boars have always been present in the area; yet there have been many complaints but we preferred to remain silent and immobile, thus remaining accomplices of the few clever poachers who profit from the illegal meat trade in spite of those who exercise, with passion, a sporting practice that should be better protected ".
