Hunting and Fauna: the conference on "Strategies and proposals for the natural balance of the territory: wild boar, roe deer, fallow deer, red deer and mouflons in Tuscany" will take place in Florence on 13 December.
“Strategies and proposals for the natural balance of the territory: wild boars, roe deer, fallow deer, deer and mouflons in Tuscany”: this is the title of the conference to be held on Friday 13 December, at the auditorium of the Regional Council in via Cavour 2 in Florence. "The Tuscan territory hosts consolidated populations of wild ungulates belonging to 5 different species - reads the presentation of the conference organized by the Tuscany Region - their presence requires careful reflection on the strategies for the correct use of natural resources, so as to safeguard essential assets such as biodiversity and the landscape in a global perspective of restoring the natural balance of the territory ".
Continuing the presentation we read again, "We intend to make Tuscan knowledge, ideas and experiences available, compare them with the situation in the rest of Italy, listen to the voice of scholars and experts, involve the productive categories concerned, recognize the value of this fauna as a resource, in order to elaborate management strategies capable of restoring a balanced coexistence with these species. In short, to elaborate solutions to be proposed for the much desired modification of the national legislation on the subject of large mammals ".
The conference will start around 9,30. The introduction will be by the Regional Councilor for Agriculture, Forestry, Hunting and Fishing, Gianni Salvadori. The president of Federparchi, Giampiero Sammuri, will then speak about “biodiversity and natural balance of the Tuscan territory”. Professor Marco Apollonio of the University of Sassari will hold a lecture on “The wildlife situation in Tuscany, analysis of the strategies implemented and proposals for better management”.
The analysis of the "National situation and prospects for the future" will be made by Silvano Toso of the Higher Institute for Research and Environmental Protection, while Marco Zaccaroni of the University of Florence will report on "New methodologies for the management of ungulate populations . " Finally, after the space for the interventions, the conclusions of Luca Sani, president of the Agriculture Commission of the Chamber.
