Hunting and Fauna: Forlì-Cesena, Coldiretti on the increasing wildlife damage in the countryside, "urge the hunting selection ".
“In short - affirms Filippo Tramonti, president of Coldiretti Forlì-Cesena - important numbers that for agricultural activities at risk can make the difference in the company balance sheet at the end of the year. There is still considerable damage to wildlife, in particular boars, but also roe deer, fallow deer and red deer, causes on crops. In this season, mainly cereals and fodder, but also the first fruits of the garden are targeted. What can be done to prevent such damage in a season in which hunting is prohibited? ”, Coldiretti Forlì-Cesena asks.
Coldiretti also highlighted that "basically there would be a solution, on paper: from 15 April to 31 January, in fact, as provided for by the hunting calendar, it would be possible to exercise the 'selection hunting'to wild boar, considered and proved useful for a species now out of control. Too bad, however, that the bureaucratic delays in the approval of the provincial hunting calendar and, therefore, in the application of the "selection hunt", risks making this solution, currently still 'all on paper', in vain.
Only qualified hunters with a compulsory training course set on a scientific basis and which can be practiced only after adequate and equally compulsory censuses are admitted to the selection hunt. In the 2013/2014 hunting season against 3.925 wild boars surveyed (but the figure is strongly underestimated), those killed during the selection period were 471 and at least 150 thousand euros were the contributions for compensation to farms spent only for the part of competence of the ATC, thus excluding all protected areas which, as known, cover almost a quarter of the agrosilvopastoral surface of the province.
“In short - affirms Filippo Tramonti, president of Coldiretti Forlì-Cesena - important numbers that for agricultural activities at risk can make the difference in the company balance sheet at the end of the year. Numbers that this year - continues Tramonti - have to deal with the inefficiency of bureaucracy. In fact, we discovered, just before starting the hunt, that the approval of the provincial hunting calendar is delayed and without it we cannot go anywhere. It is necessary to immediately remove the causes that hinder the collection of wild boars (and not only) which are the first cause of enormous damage to agriculture. The wild boars continue to "feast" by feeding on cultivated agricultural products. We must also question the whole system of protected areas - concludes Tramonti - a real flop of the agro-hunting policy of this Province ”.
