Hunting and Fauna: L'Aquila, damage from wild boars, Confagricoltura criticizes the Province for the decisions opposing the selective control of ungulates.
“The breeders and farmers of L'Aquila have no hope, now even the officials of the Province of L'Aquila are rowing against the activity of self-control of ungulates” thus begins Stefano Fabrizi, director of Confagricoltura L'Aquila. “The Province, in fact, with a note sent to the Region - he continues - asserts that the same cannot authorize the containment of wildlife in the periods when hunting is prohibited. The diatribe between regional offices and provincial leaders has also prevailed against elected administrators. For this Confagricoltura L'Aquila this morning met the president of the province Del Corvo who assured his personal commitment to immediately activate the provincial police for the necessary coordination of the teams of hunters with authorization, moreover, done in past years ".
"Common sense can be lacking - adds Fabrizi - but the ignorance of the rules by public officials and managers, richly paid, is a luxury that we can no longer afford, worse still the official defense of politicians in the electoral campaign that on the one hand they defend the just rights of hunters, while on the other they ask votes from an agricultural world that not only does not enjoy the same attention, but is forced to undergo measures without any legal basis ”.
Confagricoltura L'Aquila reminds those it defines as "diligent servants of the province" that the regional law 10/2004 on hunting provides, in article 44, that the provinces can activate the intervention of the selecontrollers. He also recalled that on 24 March, in the presence of the representatives of all the prefectures of Abruzzo, the four provinces reported the positive experiences they had conducted in the past and that for the current year the plans are already ready and approved. In Chieti it will start on 1st June.
"But if the law is not enough - they still let the trade association know - it should be memory that helps to make informed choices: common sense tells us that if self-control must respect the authorized hunting period, what would be the point given that in that period it can be hunted. Furthermore, if the culling plan, which expires in the province of L'Aquila in July 2014, must be approved by Ispra, we wonder if the procedure is not really foreseen to give certain rules outside the hunting period. With the memory, then, we go back over the years and it emerges that in our province the selective control of ungulates has always been practiced since 1988 and always when hunting was closed ”.
“And then, without any regrets - they conclude - we take note of the desire to close the provinces, the lack of competence of some bureaucrats was not indifferent to decree their extinction. The Dismissal of the incompetent would be the just reward to the citizens-taxpayers-users who are frankly tired of paying taxes for services that are not rendered ”.
